We're in the middle of a scorching hot Vancouver summer, and on days like today, there's no better way to refresh than a smoothie. They're cold, delicious, nutritious - everything you could hope for in a summer snack.

Now, as the creators of Vancouver's first ready-to-blend smoothie, we love blending one at home up first thing in the morning. But we know when you're out and about, you don't always have a blender handy. So we're going beyond the kitchen to feature our 6 favourite places for a fresh blend. We even visited each one again, had a quick smoothie, and documented some of the important details about each one: 

Where to get great smoothies in Vancouver: 

1. Festal Cafe

Festal Café is a must-visit café in Vancouver. This cafe is aesthetically pleasing, has a great atmosphere, and everything they serve is Paleo. All their "dessert smoothies" are extremely creative - and very filling.

  • Price: $7.95
  • Flavour: Extremely creamy with a delicious, not overly sweet key lime pie flavour. 
  • Size: 24 oz.
  • Neighbourhood: Downtown Vancouver
  • Unique Smoothie: Key Lime Pie
  • Signature Smoothie: Nutty Coco Banana Bread
  • What else: You can upgrade your smoothie by adding grass-fed collagen protein or MCT oil for $2.

2. Leafy Box

If you love having options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you have to visit Leafy Box. Although their business focuses on juice cleanses, they get bonus points for having a massive variety of smoothies and other menu options - the biggest on this list.

  • Price: $7.95
  • Flavor: frothy, hints of melon, very crisp tasting
  • Size: 24 oz.
  • Neighbourhood: Yaletown
  • Unique Smoothie: They stick to more conventional flavours - nothing too wild.
  • What else: You can add chia, hemp hearts, or flax seeds for additional health benefits. If you want to add protein, Leafy Box offers banana whey protein.

3. Be Fresh Bayswater

Be Fresh, part of the SPUD family, is one of the premier natural grocery foods spots in Vancouver. It has a little bit of everything. Their cafe in the back makes great grab-and-go goodies!

  • Price: $5.99
  • Flavour: Kind of like a peanut butter jelly sandwich! More banana than peanut butter, grittiness from protein powder, and very nutty.
  • Size: 16 oz.
  • Location: Kitsilano
  • Unique Smoothie: Berry Peanut Buttercup
  • What else: The smoothie comes pre-blended and packaged. Very convenient and easy to grab on the go. (You may need to shake it up)

4. Sejuiced

One of Vancouver's longest-running juice spots, Sejuiced is an institution in the heart of Kits. The cozy spot is a vegetarian restaurant first, but gives lots of love to their smoothies and juices. Their staff is also very friendly. They have definitely sejuiced us.

  • Flavour: Light chai flavour, hints of coconut, tastes tropical & sweet. A summer version of a chai latte
  • Size: 12 oz.
  • Neighbourhood: West 4th (Kitsilano)
  • Unique Smoothie: Chai Chiller

  • What else: Sejuiced serves up delicious vegetarian food as well! 

5. Radicle Juice

Radicle Juice is serving some of the most unique smoothies on Main Street. With loads of seating and open space, Radicle is one of our favourite places to go with friends to have smoothies and conversation.

  • Price: $8.25
  • Flavour: Gingery, citrusy, refreshing, smoothie with the right amount of tart.
  • Size: 16 oz.
  • Location: Main Street
  • Unique Smoothie: Dragonfly
  • Signature Smoothie: The Knockout
  • What else:
    • Radicle also offers juices and deliciously crafted smoothie bowls! The store offers lots of space for seating and enjoy your smoothie on the second floor.
    • For the smoothies, there’s such a wide variety of add-ons! It ranges from different types of seeds to chia to turmeric and different nut butters.
    • They offer reusable tumbler mugs for smoothies.
