How to Make Healthy Smoothie Popsicles

Healthy Smoothie Popsicle

It’s happened. We’ve been waiting for it all summer and just now, in August, it’s finally getting hot out in Vancouver. So what better way to celebrate the last month of summer, than with popsicles! You heard me. As it turns out, The Good Stuff’s smoothies are just as good frozen solid as they are liquid.

I'm going to show you how to make them.

We were actually inspired by one of our long-time customers, Karin, to make popsicles with our smoothies. She's been making popsicles all summer long!

Smoothie Popsicle Step One

One smoothie yields about six popsicles and I made up two batches using plastic moulds - one filled with The Thunderbird and the other filled with The Madagascar. And I won’t lie, I ate three of them before I even had time to take any pictures.

I used orange juice as the liquid for these popsicles because it gives them a sweeter taste, but feel free to choose your own liquid.

And, as I’m sure you guessed, making smoothie popsicles is super easy. So I’ve laid it out really simply for you below.

Smoothie Popsicles Step Two

Ingredients

Yield: 6 popsicles

  • 1 cup of The Good Stuff
  • ¾ cup of juice

Directions

In a blender, combine one cup of The Good Stuff with ¾ cup of juice and blend until completely smooth. Pour the mixture among six popsicle moulds.

Don’t forget to rinse the blender out right away!

If you’re using popsicle moulds with lids, like mine, put the lids on and place them in the freezer for 5 hours. If your moulds do not have lids and you are using regular ol’ popsicle sticks, place the moulds in the freezer for 1 hour. Take them out and insert your popsicles sticks into each popsicle. Return to the freezer and freeze until firm, around 4 more hours.

To remove the popsicles run the mould under hot water for 10 seconds and then pull the popsicles out of the moulds. Store in the freezer.

And that’s how you make a healthy smoothie popsicle!
